Balamory Mull Pipe Band Mull and Iona Piping Society Argyll Scotland TobermoryThe neighbouring isles of Mull and Iona lie off the west coast of Scotland and are two of the islands forming the Inner Hebrides.  They share an incredibly strong piping heritage - and can boast a piping school on both Mull and its smaller neighbour - Ulva, second only to the MacCrimmon's of Skye.  The MacArthur school of piping provided hereditary pipers to the MacDonald's - Lords of the Isles and to local clan chiefs.

Mull and its immediate islands' main clans are Maclean of Duart, Maclaine of Lochbuie, Macquarie, MacGillivray, MacDonald and MacDougall.  The Mull and Iona Piping Society are proud to wear the Maclaine of Lochbuie tartan for their kilts.

Mull has been a hotbed of piping for many centuries and in recent times, has continued to be the home of accomplished pipers.  Mull, its islands and people have also inspired many a pipe tune - some of which are listed later in this site.

Mull and Iona Piping Society have fluctuated in numbers over the years, but is again showing a resurgence and performs at a number of events on Mull, Iona and the mainland during the year.
